The Consultation

By registering for this consultation, you (Consultee) understand and acknowledge that this is not a therapy session or any formal clinical training associated with the IFS Institute (IFSI), EMDRIA, or any other governing body. Consultation will be focused upon issues relating to your work with your clients.

The Consultation Process

The outcome of your consultation depends largely on your willingness to engage in this process, which may, at times, result in considerable discomfort. I cannot promise that your circumstances or the circumstances of those you serve will change. I can promise to support you and do my very best to understand you and your clients, and to help you clarify your clinical work to be as effective as possible.

Consultation is not supervision. Consultation focuses on integrative trauma therapy and integrating various modalities into your practice. You are responsible for the therapeutic relationship with your clients and competency in the modalities you offer. As a consultant, I do not hold liability for how you practice.

Rules/Consent

  • You understand that Consultation Services do not constitute clinical supervision, medical advice, or legal advice, and that you remain completely responsible, both ethically and legally, for the medical care decisions and patient communications made in your professional practice.

  • You further understand that the Consultant will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your clinical cases and issues. Consultant may consider and evaluate options for approaching and exploring courses of action in response to the clinical cases and issues based on Consultant's clinical expertise and/or subject-matter knowledge. Consultant's comments and feedback are made directly to you for your individual consideration.

  • Consultation Services do not constitute any kind of professional-patient relationship.

  • Consultation Services are not a substitute for trainee or mandated supervision.

  • To the extent possible, when communicating your clinical cases or issues, including but not limited to any case presentations, with Consultant, you will not provide identifiable patient information. If you provide identifiable information, you understand and agree that Consultant may be required by law to report identifiable patient situations involving serious danger, actual or suspected, to emergency services. Consultant will inform you when discovering such information and give you an opportunity to report the situation to emergency services.

  • You understand that if Consultant becomes aware that they personally know or have a prior relationship with a client from one of your clinical cases, or if they believe there is a potential conflict of interest in their relationship with you, Consultant will promptly notify you of that fact and may cease Consultation Services and cooperate in helping you find a different consultant.
